FAQs

What are the Child Development Center hours of operations?
The Child Development Center is open from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday. It is a year-round program and is closed only on major holidays and teacher training days. For elementary school-aged children enrolled in the After School Hut program, the hours are 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday during the school year and 7:30 am – 6:00 pm during the summer. The Child Development Center offers full Hut days on many of the Atlanta Public School holidays.

Do you offer carpool?
Haygood Child Development Center does not offer carpool; however, we do have a drive-up lane that is available during specific times, for short visits during the morning and afternoon. The drive-up lane is NOT available from 8:45 am – 9:15 am and from 12:45 am – 1:15 pm, Monday through Friday. During those hours, the Preschool runs its carpool sessions. Parents are required to sign their children in and out each day. Parents must drop off and pick up from the classroom.

When should I apply for admission to the Child Development Center?
Registration opens on December 15th, 2016.  Applications for the program may be submitted during this registration period. Tours are scheduled throughout the year; you may attend a tour by appointment only. The Child Development Center does not maintain rolling admissions from the previous school year, so each family must re-apply each year. Families are notified by the director when a space becomes available for your child.

In addition to language, what other enrichment are offered?
Along with Spanish, offered to children age 3 and older, the Child Development Center offers music to all children who attend the Child Development Center.
