Our half-day Kindergarten is state accredited through the Georgia Accrediting Commission and offers children a wonderful opportunity to continue their Haygood experience in an intimate setting before heading off to full day school. Haygood Kindergarten prepares children to enter into a first grade curriculum should they be developmentally ready. It is also appropriate for those undecided on future enrollment in a full day kindergarten or first grade.
The class has a maximum of 15 students, led by two experienced teachers. Our teachers are tenured, Orton-Gillingham trained and very passionate about giving your children the best experience Haygood has to offer!
Curriculum and School Day
Haygood Kindergarten has a complete curriculum using Open Court Phonics, Handwriting Without Tears, Creative Curriculum and Starfall Math. Guided reading, small-group centers and whole group instruction are utilized. Focus includes reading/language arts, math, science and social studies. Children receive music, science and Spanish instruction throughout the year.
Our school day runs from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm during the traditional school year. Enrichment activities are available after the day is over through the Haygood Recreation Program.
